Recently, a Filipino placed second in the U.K. Open Memory Championships held in London.  Johan Rondall Abrina made the country proud by taking home silver and moving up to Grand Master (GM) level in the process.  The main challenge of the event is to memorize a deck of shuffled cards in the shortest amount of time.  Abrina memorized the sequence of a deck of cards in just 1.2 minutes.  The event was won by now 4-time champion Ben Pridmore.  Still, the British GM was wowed by a Filipino when Abrina’s mentor; Robert Racasa commit to memory a 3-deck mix. What would be the criteria of a rock band that will appeal to most Filipinos? We’re talking about most Pinoys who have a sweet tooth for pop culture here.  The middle-karaoke-loving-all-age demographic.  Hands down, Hotdog, VST and company Eraserheads, Parokya ni Edgar on one hand.  Side A, Afterimage, Bamboo, Color it Red, Barbie’s Cradle, The Dawn on the other.  Basically this criteria seem to appeal to the pop sensibilities of Pinoy culture:

• a band must be fun/funny

Dingdong Avanzado has always been larger than life and he had no problem filling up PAGCOR Tagaytay’s spacious main stage with his talent.  As witnessed before, PAGCOR Tagaytay could easily be the best experience for a PAGCOR patron.  That is in terms of integrating the gaming tables and slot machine layout facing the center stage.  The entertainment doesn’t take too much from patrons who want to enjoy both game and show. 

 As an artist who’s done a good share of mini concerts for PAGCOR, Dingdong Avanzado confesses about how “rewarding” the whole experience is.    He told pagcor.ph that “performing for PAGCOR has been very rewarding for me as an entertainer”.  He can’t help but reciprocate the energy when he sees his “audience having a good a good time and appreciate” what he does on stage.
